About the Board of Advocates

Mission Statement

The Board of Advocates for Southern Methodist University's Dedman School of Law promotes advocacy through intramural and intermural competitions. Juris Doctor candidates are encouraged to engage one another to develop advocacy skills that will benefit them throughout their careers. Through meticulous preparation and cooperation with coaches, fellow students, attorneys, judges and professors; members of the Board of Advocates will be better prepared to succeed in the legal profession.

BOA Executive Council - Who we are and how to get involved

The Board of Advocates Executive Council is a small group of student leaders dedicated to making the advocacy experience of SMU law students run smoothly. Below please find the contact information for all of the officers along with a short list of their areas of responsibility. Please never hesitate to contact any officer with any questions, concerns, comments, or suggestions--we are here for you!

Each April, the Executive Council is selected by the previous Council after an interview and application process. Those selected take on a year-long commitment to helping organize, administer, and support advocacy learning. If you are interested in becoming an officer, please check back during the mid-spring for more detailed information on the interview and application process. Questions or comments?
