SMU Law - Board of Advocates

Welcome

The Board of Advocates (BOA) is an organization of law students committed to learning about the advocacy side of the practice of law. Led by an Executive Council of officers and strongly supported by the law school administration and faculty, the BOA promotes the practical side of lawyering through on and off campus competitions in a variety of advocacy areas. Whether you want to be a transactional attorney working on multi-million-dollar deals (try the Negotiation competition in the Fall) or a trial-ready litigator (try one of twelve off-campus moot court or mock trial competitions), the BOA provides various opportunities for SMU students to become successful advocates.

The BOA website contains almost all the information you need to learn about the organization and how to become involved. Please take a moment to browse our website and learn about the different types of activities/competitions we host, all of which provide opportunities for learning, resume-building, and competing.

If you have any questions or comments regarding the BOA, please do not hesitate to email any of the Executive Council (under the “About the BOA” tab). Also, please stop by anytime at our office on the lower level of Storey Hall, Room 24B.

We look forward to your participation!

Best regards,
Adam Doupé, Chairman
